Long Little While

You’d be surprised how much you missed something when you’ve been away for a while. I talked to someone recently about my love of reading and they mentioned how I should write reviews. I thought to myself ‘I do!’ but I knew that I hadn’t been consistent with writing them. I don’t think there is any real science behind it, I just think that my love for reading has suddenly outweighed my love for writing reviews.

Don’t get me wrong! I love love love to review novels but I just get so caught up in the stories that I end up reading the next novel and not writing the review. I have sooooo many book reviews to write. I’ve at least read 4 books a week for the last month and a half. Each of them will be getting a review, it’s just a matter of time.

I look forward to the long nights until I get them all done and I hope that you enjoy them.

I love feedback guys! If you hate my reviews, let me know! If you love my reviews, let me know! If you have read the book before, please…let me know and tell me how you felt about it!

Book Review: Renegade by J.A. Sounders

Hey all! I’ve been away for a while so I figured I’d come back and do all the reviews for the books I’ve been reading over these last few months. I was looking through the Orlando paper and I saw that it has really great  suggestions for fun things to do in Orlando. Most of the events are very low priced but alot of them are totally free!! Anyway, so I found out that there was a Book Convention going on at the library and I just HAD to check it out!

Once there, I walked around and talked with a few of the authors that were there. Most of them I hadn’t heard of. I was just leaving when I walked past J.A. Sounder’s table. I had been by earlier in the day when the writers hadn’t arrived yet and was instantly drawn to her cover. Brandished on the table was a note saying “Free novel…just come say hi!” and OF COURSE that was a hook, line AND sinker! So I stopped by, quite oddly I might add, and she said hello. She was super nice and I introduced myself.

She gave me a book for free just as the sign said! After signing it, she gave a big smile and I knew it’d be the first one I’d read out of all the books I’d bought that day! I saw in the cover that this was the first book she’d written and instantly I was worried. I wasn’t sure what to expect and for some reason wasn’t feeling like being all that adventurous! Boy, was I in for a great surprise!

Now, on for the review. I absolutely loved the novel! It was crazy, it was filled with gore, it was filled with blood and fighting! As most people know, I am a sucker for romance! It had a great romance plot, one that I was on board with the entire time! I loved this new world that the author formed! The beauty of it just made me want to go there, not to get killed of course but to be under the ocean and watch the fish swim by. I wanted to go through Evie’s garden and take the tube from one sector to another. The story is very well crafted and thought out. It was filled with mystery, intrigue and true eye-opening surprise. It took me less than a few days to read this novel because I did NOT want to put it down at all. I was hooked from the first chapter!

It seems like the further I got into the book I kept wondering why no one has snatched this novel up yet. It has everything that you’d want to see before you. I mean come on people!!! After all of these other novels turned major motion pictures!? Why has no one made a movie out of this story yet? Where is the screen play? Where is the great following? If I’m so excited about this YA  novel that so should you be! Ugh…it actually seems weird to me how much I loved it. I can’t wait until I get the second sequel. I believe it’s called Revelations? I’ll have to check it out. I can’t wait to see what is next for Evie!

Thank you J.A. Sounders for catching my eye and thank you for being a great writer! I definitely look forward to the next book and sharing a review of that one as well! Below you can find a link to her page, a few links to where you can buy the book.

Have you already read this book? Let me know what you thought, if you enjoyed it and how you felt! I would love to know!

Jade Elyzabeth

P.S. Stick around, I have more reviews coming up soon!

Book Review: Her Lone Wolf by Paige Tyler

Hello!

So I literally just finished Her Lone Wolf and I must say, it was great. It was definitely suspenseful, as we are working with a serial killer here, but funny too. I wouldn’t say there was any real comic relief, just that there were parts that weren’t as serious that kind of balanced out the book. I actually was inspired by this novel. Before now I hadn’t read anything by Paige Tyler and I’m definitely hooked. I just found out, by searching her page (link below) that it is actually apart of a series. Luckily! It’s the second book. I plan to go back to the book store and see if they have the first and third books in the series. Her Lone Wolf by Paige Tyler

The characters were well thought out. The cadence of the book read very smoothly. I’ve read a few shifter novels in my time and I think this is definitely in my top twenty of favorites. I would put Paige Tyler near my top with Lynsay Sands (not touching but amazingly close). She also played her sup-characters very well. I find that in a lot of novels the characters who aren’t really important or mains fall between the cracks. They aren’t as well rounded, their lines seem forced, we don’t really form who they are in our minds. Tyler describes and widens the spectrum for her sup-characters and that is what inspired me.

I’ve always wanted to be a writer of well researched, beautifully developed and loveable characters. Call me crazy but the twists of the book and the psychosis of the killer really drew me in! Tyler is a fantastic writer and a gathers points in my book for creativity!

I recommend this novel to any romance reader who also likes a little mystery with their love. Looking forward to reading more!

A Few New Novels!

Hey all!

So, I just discovered this bookstore called Books A Million (Link below) via a few of my coworkers. I had been in dire need of  a great bookstore and it seems that Florida isn’t too friendly with Barnes and Nobles. Back home, every mall had a BnN, shopping strips had them and there were even stand alone locations. Here, there aren’t that many! (Unless I’m just looking in all the wrong places). Anyway, so I went and checked it out and surprisingly it was pretty awesome! There were some pretty good selections. I must admit I was a little skeptical at first but then I decided to give it a chance.

I hadn’t really planned to spend any money there and luckily they were having a sale! A Buy Two Get A Third Free type sale. I was beyond excited. The first book that I immediately was drawn to is by Paige Tyler. This is an author I’ve never heard of before! (Inserted author link below!) We shall see!

Book Review: Carrying His Secret by Marie Ferrarella

Hello,

I actually liked this book. It was well written and followed a great plot. I must admit that there were some parts they definitely could have taken out of the story as it just seemed to drag on a little at the end but it was a pleasure to read. The MCM, Whit Adair, definitely is someone dream are made from. He’s tall, handsome, a genuinely great guy with an even better personality. The MCF, Elizabeth Shelton, is adorable, nice and a sure damsel in distress.

Carrying His Secret

I thought it was weird how in the story she was the police’s first suspect in the murder of her boss. I know that since she was the last one to see him alive she might be a suspect or in questioning at some point but she has no motive. They didn’t find a sexual relationship between the two, she wouldn’t gain anything major (such as the company) in his death and she has overall great reviews. This, of course, doesn’t take away from the story but it was just something that had come into my mind while reading.

The supporting characters in the story are well thought out. They weren’t flat and dull characters. The siblings of MCM were well crafted, had great personalities and made you laugh. The evil mother (or evil monster as I dubbed her) “played” her bitchy role very well. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who is just looking for a book to curl up with and read quickly, I finished it in prime time.

I’d give this book six stars!

Jade!

Current Read: Carrying His Secret

Hey!

I thought I’d do a round of small romance novels! You know, the ones that are very short and are usually headed by Harlequin? I just recently came across a few that were really good and were in the same theme but had some really good storylines to them. Since they are so short I’ll do a quick little review for them and move on!

The third book that I’m doing is called Carrying His Secret by Marie Ferrarella (That is like the funniest but most awesome last name ever!). I had never heard of this author before I picked this book up so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Inference:

Elizabeth Shelton found her boss murdered, his son the father of her unborn baby, and herself on the run from a killer. She’s really having one bad day, or few months, depending on how your looking at it. With him she, and their child, will be safe but what she wants, in addition to his protection, is his love.

Good Readance,

Jade
