Ok, so it’s not really happy news that I’ve come to share with you. I actually am doing a review on this book even though I did NOT read it. I know, I know! You guys are like WHAT!? I will admit that I thought twice about doing the review but since I already had it in my queue for books to read and review I thought why not.
I actually got this book on loaner from another reader at work and I thought it was going to be great. Outside of the last few Twilight books, I am actually an avid vampire-story reader. I love the new ideas that people come up with, the spins and twists and i love the seriousness in which they sell their plots.
This book had none of that. I began to read it and immediately from page one I thought it was horrible. I couldn’t take the awkward way the book portrayed some B-rated surfer movie meets Interview With A Vampire meets Clueless plot. Everything said was a “dude” or a “omigosh” or “…falls on the floor with head in hands” I just couldn’t take it. I did try and stick it out and read more of the novel but I was so out of touch with the characters from page one that I refused to read further. If I had been at home or in the comfort of an inclosed space (and if it weren’t a borrowed novel) i would have thrown it across the room as I am known to do with books disliked.
I was actually surprised also because I have read at least one or two other Kerrelyn Sparks novels and I for sure thought she was going to give me some semblance of a decent novel. I was surprised that this turned out to be a hippie soap opera for hot vampires.
So there you have it. I read the book but not in it’s entirety and this is my complete opinion of the novel. I guess now would be the perfect time to say I would NOT recommend this novel, not to anyone. However, I do know that someone will most likely go and read it just because I disliked it and that is fine also, good for them! I hope you like it!
